Gizem Koca, PhD

Hello! I am Gizem Koca and from Turkey. I received a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Industrial Engineering from Baskent University (Turkey) in 2015. Later, I pursued a Master of Applied Science (MASc) degree in Industrial Systems Engineering from the University of Regina (Saskatchewan, Canada). My master thesis focused on "An Intelligent System for Type II Diabetes Mellitus Diagnostic". In 2020, I started my Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the Industrial Engineering department at Dalhousie University and joined the Health Care Optimization and Analytics Lab (H-COAL). During my Ph.D., I presented my research at conferences and seminars.  In October 2024, I defended my Ph.D. with a dissertation titled "Analysis and Modelling of An Acute Stroke Treatment Process". Starting from November 2024, I am beginning to work as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Industrial Engineering department at Dalhousie University, aiming to continue optimizing healthcare systems using industrial engineering methodologies.
