Rachael Schwartz, MASc PEng

Project Manager

Hello, world!

My name is Rachael, and I am an engineer and a registered acupuncturist, fortunate to call Mi'kma'ki (Nova Scotia) home. My path in healthcare and engineering has led me through many valuable learning experiences, completing my Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dalhousie University, followed by a Master’s in Applied Science with a focus on biomedical engineering, where I researched micro-electrical mechanical systems (MEMS) for medical applications.

With over a decade of experience spanning research, product development, and sustainability, I have had the opportunity to work across both engineering and healthcare fields. My professional path has taken me from the research labs of Dalhousie University to roles in product development and management with biomedical start-up companies as well as Nova Scotia Health, where I supported teams focused on quality improvement and sustainability initiatives.

One of my personal values is accessibility of health services and supports for all, so I am especially grateful to be contributing to the OPTIMSING ACCESS project, led by Dr. Noreen Kamal in which we aim to create a national acute stroke registry that will track and aid improvement in access to and delivery of life-saving endovascular treatment for all stroke patients across Canada.
